The MB-D16 is equipped with a shutter release button, AE/AF lock button, multi selector, main command dial and sub-command dial, improving operability when shooting in portrait (tall) orientation.
It can be powered by either six AA batteries (alkaline, nickel-metal hydride, or lithium) or an EN-EL15 rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
To use the MB-D16 with AA batteries, use the MS-D14 AA battery holder. If you are using an EN-EL15 to power the MB-D16, use the MS-D14EN holder.
