It keeps what it promises, but you have to be careful when shaking it off. The plastic gets very soft when the hot water is in with the rice. Better to leave it alone. If you just want to wash the rice beforehand, it's ideal and really recommendable.

This is great. I really like the fact that the draining holes are in the side of the bowl . The curved shape somehow makes it easier to use too. No more losing quantities of my rice etc into the sink as it slips through the holes or past the edge of the sieve
