This is a plastic model kit of Fine Mold's "1/48 Aircraft Series: Imperial Navy Type 9 Experimental Single-Seat Fighter."
The Type 9 Experimental Single-Seat Fighter was the precursor to the Type 96 Carrier-Based Fighter, the main fighter aircraft prior to the Zero fighter.
Designed by Jiro Horikoshi, the Navy's first all-metal monoplane was an innovative design that would later lead to the Zero fighter.
This kit recreates the first aircraft with inverted gull wings.
The packaging is new, depicting the aircraft during a test flight at Kakamigahara.
