Introduction
The Sound Stylistics' miraculous return! If this isn't a miracle, then what is?
This legendary all-star band of UK funk/acid jazz veterans, who vanished into the shadows of history with only one album left, the epic funk masterpiece "Play Deep Funk," now announces a grand call for the restoration of the monarchy!
The monster funk sound created by these guys who are once again blazing down the royal road of funk, is now available in Japan before the rest of the world!
★Last year's legendary debut album, "Play Deep Funk," reportedly sold over 10,000 copies in Japan alone!
Originally, the Sound Stylistics were a session band made up of a motley crew of musicians who only released one album. The album "Play Deep Funk" was recorded by the UK library label Bruton around 2002, but was only officially released as a 7-inch single and remained in the archives for a long time. However, with its reissue by Freestyle Records, it has been reborn as a super-class funk masterpiece. Encouraged by the sales, the core members decided to bring them all together again!
★This is truly an all-star lineup of the UK funk/jazz scene!
The album centers around Jason Glover (engineer), Gary Crockett (bass/James Taylor Quartet), and Dominic Glover (trumpet/Incognito, Bar Samba), who also perform with the Mocambo Allstars. Featuring virtuoso figures like Eddie Roberts (guitar/The New Mastersounds), Jim Watson (keyboards/Incognito), and Snowboy (percussion), this album is even more powerful than its predecessor, ushering in a fierce funk war!
★All original tracks, including blazing tunes powered by organ and guitar!
The opener, "Tie One," delivers a compelling, tense groove and tight beat. On," the explosive organ-fueled funk of M2 "The Crisis Generator," the ridiculously cool Eddie Roberts guitar roar of M5 "Knucklehead," the scorching organ funk of M6 "The Burner," the dark funk of M9 "Crack Away Jack" with its overly thick bass, and the adrenaline-pumping, high-speed funk of "Big Pieces" that'll have you in stitches!
