Product Description
This is a 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit of the U.S. Navy F-14A Tomcat, which served as the world's most powerful carrier-based air defense fighter from 1970 until its retirement in 2006.
The F-14A was also exported to Iran, where it continues to be independently maintained and deployed on the front lines as a mainstay of air defense.
Three types of air-to-air missiles, including the AIM-54A Phoenix, are included as standard with the kit.
The canopy is slide-molded to recreate the Omega cross section. Can be opened or closed even after completion.
Two figures are included: a seated pilot and a radar interceptor officer.
Two engine nozzles are available: a throttled position for cruising and a fully open position for afterburners.
The refueling globe on the right side of the aircraft is included in both deployed and stowed positions, and each can be assembled with or without the cover.
The adjustable wing utilizes a system that inserts into the core spar after the aircraft is assembled, making painting easier.
The left and right wings are securely linked by interlocking gears. Two types of "airbags" are included to fill gaps that occur when the wings are moved, and two types of "sealing panels" for the upper surfaces of the wing globes are included. These can be interchanged even after assembly.
Three decals are included: two for the popular high-visibility paint era and one for the Iranian Air Force.
Includes color painting diagrams and explanatory materials for the actual aircraft.
The recommended main painting instructions are "86516 AS-16 Light Gray (USAF) and 85027 TS-27 Matte White."
